Department of Anatomy

The department of Anatomy is located on the ground floor of the college building. Each academic year, the department welcomes 100 undergraduate students and 2 postgraduate students.

Department of Anesthesiology

Department of Anesthesiology was started with inauguration of S. M. Nawab Hospital in the present premises of Katihar Medical College.

Department of Biochemistry

Department of Community Medicine

In the MBBS course, the teaching of Community Medicine starts from the 1st semester and continues until the 7 th semester.

Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy

The department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy is functioning since the inception of the college. Postgraduate (MD dermatology, Venerology and Leprosy) degree was permitted by MCI and started in the year of 2008.

Department of Dentistry

The department of Dentistry is situated on the ground floor of the hospital. It is equipped with dental chairs and dental X-ray unit. 

Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology

The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology has been running since the inception of this college. 

Department of Microbiology

Microbiology is one of the four subjects covered in the second professional M.B.B.S. course. 

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is housed on the second floor of the main block in the clinical wing since the inception of the clinical teaching.

Department of Ophthalmology

The department has a well-established eye centre catering to a large number of patients. The OPD has four consultation chambers, a dark room, a refraction room, an indirect ophthalmoscope room and a minor operation theatre.

Department of Orthopaedics

The objective of the course is to prepare students to be able to explain the principles of recognition of bone injuries and dislocation. 

Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT)

The department ofOtorhinolaryngology is running postgraduate course in MS-ENT, permitted by medical council of India. The department has 30 beds in a unit. The department has specialty clinics like otology, rhinology, cancer and vertigo.

Department of Paediatrics

The department has a 60-bed facility for General Paediatrics, an 8-bed Paediatrics Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and an 8-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). An isolation ward is available for care of infectious patients.

Department of Pathology

The department involves in extensive training program including lectures, tutorials, journal clubs, clinical seminars, group discussions, case presentation, group discussion and guest lecturers etc. 

Department of Pharmacology

The department has experimental laboratory with a capacity of 75-100 students with preparation room; 

Department of Physiology

The department of Physiology is located on the ground floor of the college building and is involved in undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and research activities.

Department of Psychiatry

The department of Psychiatry started running postgraduate MD course in 2013 with 30 teaching beds. 

Department of Radio-diagnosis

The department from its inception, continues to play an important in the overall healthcare and academic activities of the institute.

Department of General Surgery

The department of General Surgery has been running postgraduate course since 2009. The department comprises of four units, functioning 24x7 of the week.

Department of Tuberculosis and Chest

The department of Tuberculosis & Chest was started as a division of the General Medicine department.
