Since its inception in 1987, Katihar Medical College - inducted into Al-Karim University in 2018 - has been actively involved in flood relief work for the poor and the needy. The medical college, which houses about 800-bed teaching hospital, provides free medical services such as surgery, bed and dietary. Registration fee is minimal, which was Rs. 2 and was increased to Rs. 5 from 1 January 2018 and charges for diagnostic services are kept as low as possible.
