Who we are


Al-Karim University has been established in 2018 by Al-Karim Education Trust under the provisions of Bihar Private Universities Act, 2013 through a flat by government of Bihar. The University has been established to achieve the objectives of the founding trust to make education available to the students of this backword region of katihar District and adjoining areas easily. The aim of the university is to provide job oriented education at higher level as well as at midlevel besides others. The huge backlog of un-employment can be addressed properly only when the graduating student are quickly absorbed in jobs. There is an acute shortage of high quality trained manpower in a large number of technical and semi-technical fields and this university aims to provide ready trained manpower to thyose sectors where there is shortage. At higher level the University looks forword to put emphasis of on need based research in scientific and social fields particularly related to the region.

Katihar Medical College is a costituent units of the university and was awarded as the Best Medical College in North East India in Healthcare Excellence Summit & Award 2015 by Shri Shripal Yesso Naik, Hon'ble Union Ministry of State, Ministry of Ayush & Ministry of Helth & Family Welfare, Goverment of India.

The Headquarters of Al-Karim University, Katihar is at Katihar, a city situated in the eastern part of Bihar. It is one of the larger cities of Bihar and is known all over East India for its highly strategic railway junction, and with a population of 30 lakhs the literacy rate of the district is 52.24%.

Katihar Railway Junction connects North East Region of India with the rest of India and is connected directly with national and state capitals Delhi and Patna. New Delhi - Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express passes throu Katihar Railway Junction daily.

Since the major source of living in this region is agriculture with few avenues of services in public sector the general condition of the people here is very poor, economically as well as educationally. 1986 National Education Policy has identified this district for special emphasis on developmental programmes including education. NITI Ayog has classified Katihar alongwith adjoining districts of Seemanchal as the most backward districts.

Geographically this region falls adjacent to culturally rich Mithila Region which has a strong historical footings in education and human learning and has significant influence of its culture are this region (Seemanchal) as well.
